Also, a quick reminder that we update the Visitors page regularly with all the information regarding visits to Abel Tasman Village. You can always find the page under the Contact Us menu!
Out with the old, in with the new… That was quite a year wasn’t it? Thankfully, our Activities department has the program for the first month of 2021. A year which is bound to be different!
Be sure to read messages from Sophia and Elizabett as well as last month’s reportage and activity schedule in our newletter. It’s all here!
The November newsletter is now online. A big month, with the Melbourne Cup festivitates and of course Remembrance Day on the 11th November. Download the newsletter here.

The lock-down continues but our ever resourceful activities department managed to fill another month’s calendar for September. The main event is Father’s Day, most probably celebrated in isolation…
Starring in our August Newsletter for one last time is Virginia Mills. She has been with us for 25 years and we’re finally letting her go! Thank you, Virginia.
Download the August Newsletter, not only to read a message from our General Manager about the unfortunate, but necessary lockdown of our facility, but also about our Home Care efforts and activities which we’ve got scheduled, no matter what happens in the outside world! And read the letter from the Dutch Consul General…
Oh yes, and don’t forget to forward your “thank you” message to staff to ( business.mgr@abeltasman.com.au ), in time for this Friday’s Employee Day (see earlier post). We rely on Abel Tasman Village staff to look after our elderly relatives. Send them a message that we appreciate their efforts…
The month of July will see the return to the Village of some activities, which for the safety of our residents had been put on hold due to COVID-19. Working within the health guidelines, we will be slowly welcoming back entertainers and volunteers to Abel Tasman and July will also see the return of Church services.
Home Care recipients are also welcome to attend the Village. I was pleased to see Mrs Gloria Short at our hair salon last week for her appointment!
Celebrations, Food Safety and COVID Protection, all in one picture.
Here is a copy of our June newsletter (download it here). It incorporates Sophia’s weekly message, Home Care news , our activities programme and a look back to in pictures to last month’s activities.
May proved to be another busy month at Abel Tasman. Katja and her team have worked very hard in ensuring that recreational Activities continue to be carried out with the least amount of possible disruption.
Good to see news and photos from the team which provides our Home Care Program, including a couple of personal histories!
Sophia’s message in the newsletter covers recommendations regarding our food safety programme, particularly concerning “brought-in” food, as well as some important reminders regarding Village entry and exit. Please have read.

This category is for any individual who enters the aged care system under the full
regulations of the new program.
Definition: A client who is approved to receive services under the Support at Home program from November 1, 2025, onwards.
Key Implication: These clients will fall entirely under the new contribution and funding rules established for the Support at Home program from the moment they begin receiving services.
This category covers individuals who entered the system during the transition period after the initial announcement but before the new system fully begins.
Definition: A client who was approved for a Home Care Package between September 13, 2024, and October 31, 2025 (inclusive).
Key Implication: These clients are treated as being on a path to the new system. They will move to the standard client contribution framework of the Support at Home program.
Transition: They will officially transition to the new client contribution framework and funding model on November 1, 2025.
This category is for those who were already engaged with the existing system prior
to the major legislative changes being announced.
Definition: A client who, as of September 12, 2024, was in one of the following situations:
* Currently receiving a Home Care Package (HCP).
* On the National Priority System (NPS) waiting list for an HCP.

Key Implication: The “no worse off” principle applies to this group. This is a critical protection ensuring that Grandfathered Clients will not pay more in client contributions than they would have under the previous Home Care Package fee structure.
Transition: Their current fee arrangements will remain in place until the Support at Home program commences on November 1, 2025, and the “no worse off” principle will continue to protect them beyond that date.
