Hello to you all.
This is an update on the COVID 19 outbreak at Abel Tasman Village. As at 6/1/2022, we have 2 residents who have tested positive to the virus. Both residents are exhibiting either minor or no symptoms at all which is reassuring. The 1st resident who tested positive just after Christmas is now out of the isolation period and we have received clearance from NSW Health. That resident too exhibited extremely minor symptoms. PCR swabs have been taken for all residents in the Link building where the original case was located. We can in all likelihood expect more positive results from those swabs. We are hoping to get results quickly but we know that the length of time to get a result at this time can be quite lengthy. We will update you as soon as we can.
We currently have a number of staff isolating with a positive result. We are keeping in contact with staff and they are reporting very minor symptoms. A number of these staff will be released from isolation over the next few days and we are looking forward to welcoming them back. They are serving extra days in isolation before they can return to an aged care setting.
We are meeting regularly with the Local Health District Outbreak Management/Aged Care Liaison team and they are satisfied we are doing everything we can do to limit this outbreak. They did mention that our high vaccination and booster rate is a significant factor in the protection of our residents.
I know that this is a very worrying time for families but I can assure you we are doing everything we can with our infection control processes to halt the spread of the virus at ATV. If any family member would like to speak to me personally I am happy to take a call to discuss the situation. Please contact ATV and our office can put you through to me or give me a message to call you.
If you are looking for additional support, the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) is available for residents or families in aged are. They can be contacted on 1800 700 600.
Thank you for your understanding at such a difficult time.
